Reverse logistics is a concept that is gaining popularity around the world to promote the sustainable management of waste and natural resources. Reverse logistics is especially important for the proper management of expired or discarded drugs, as they pose significant risks to public health and the environment. In this scenario, this scientific article aims to compare the Brazilian and Mexican legislations on reverse logistics of expired and obsolete drugs, identify possible similarities and differences. Based on a systematic literature review and comparative analysis of the legislation of both countries, this study is descriptive and analytical. For this purpose, primary and secondary sources are used, including current legislation, articles, books, government reports and other publications. As a result, it was possible to notice the importance of an entity for the implementation and operation of the reverse logistics system for drugs throughout the national territory, meanwhile the role of the government is to supervise and impose sanctions on those who do not comply with the legislation and also create mechanisms for awareness of the population to mitigate the impacts of these residues on the environment.
