Economic Impacts of Breakdowns and Damages in Road Cargo Transport in the City of São Paulo

The objective of this work was to analyze the breakdowns and damage of goods in a road freight transport company in the city of São Paulo, as it was found that damage to goods is common in this type of operation. To analyze this problem, the methodology used was based on a theoretical framework that analyzed the characteristics of the distribution of cargo carriers in the city of São Paulo, as well as identifying the factors that motivate damage to goods, the level of service was also analyzed. provided by cargo carriers and the best practices for handling goods in carriers, where the main systems used in cargo unitization and some merchandise handling equipment used by carriers were presented. It was found, through bibliographical research, that the lack of infrastructure in the road transport network, lack of care when transporting packaging, lack of care with environmental factors, lack of training and lack of adequate equipment were the determining factors for the breakages and damage to goods.
