Since the beginning of the 21st century, Generation Z has become a recurring topic in discussions within the field of Human Resources, especially concerning talent retention in companies. With 31.5% of the global population belonging to this generation, their expectations and values often diverge from those of previous generations, making it necessary to rethink traditional talent retention practices. This study investigates how hygiene and motivational factors, according to Herzberg, still apply today. Through a quantitative survey, we analyzed the perceptions of different generations regarding what truly motivates them at work. The results show that, for Generation Z, fair salaries, growth opportunities, attractive benefit packages, safety, and a good work environment are fundamental for staying in organizations. Thus, it becomes clear that companies need to adapt and develop a work culture that aligns with the values of this new generation, which seeks not only good compensation but also a space where they feel valued, safe, and able to grow.
