The Role of the digital twin in solving port-related environmental problems

Highlighting the importance of the port industry on the global stage and highlighting the environmental challenges associated with its operations, this article presents the concept of Digital Twin as a crucial tool for promoting port sustainability, enabling detailed monitoring, analysis and simulation in real time. The implementation of Digital Twin enables improvements in energy efficiency, reduction of carbon emissions and mitigation of environmental impacts, in addition to representing a significant transformation in the way port operations are conducted. It also highlights the benefits in terms of environmental sustainability, operational efficiency and social responsibility that this technology can offer the port industry. To this end, the methodology applied was an analytical bibliographic review, with a qualitative approach and practices observed in the market, which contribute to a better understanding of this study.
