Failures in Physical Inventory Management in Pet Shops

E-commerce has experienced exponential growth in recent years, providing consumers with a quick and easy way to shop. However, one of the main challenges faced by e-commerce is outdated physical stock. This occurs when the quantity available in the system does not match the actual quantity in stock, leading to problems such as sales of unavailable products, delays in delivery and customer dissatisfaction. With the problems and flaws to be solved in mind, this study carries out an inventory of the quantity of products in a pet shop chain, with the aim of verifying the level of service of electronic sales and customer satisfaction, using arena software. This makes it possible to tackle flaws in physical stock management, improving customer satisfaction and increasing the company's operational efficiency. Through carefully planned simulations, it was found that the main bottleneck is the inconsistency in the lack of a proper stock for e-commerce sales and physical sales.
