A fast and efficient drive-thru is something desired by many customers and a challenge for the logistics area, many restaurants are testing. The purpose of this article examines an incident in the process of picking up orders at a McDonald's drive-thru, highlighting the problem of conflicts between the search for quick meals and traffic problems. Specifically, during Friday nights and weekends, dozens of vehicles clogged the access roads to the McDonald’s drive-thru located on an avenue in Cotia (SP). Resulting in arguments between customers and near collisions between vehicles. The epicenter of the problem was identified in the ordering and payment area, with excessively long waiting times exacerbating the situation. Resolving this dilemma requires cooperation between fast-food companies and local authorities to balance consumer convenience and traffic flow. Suggested measures include implementing order-ahead with prepayment, hiring staff to speed up service, or expanding the drive-thru to reduce wait times. These proposals are based on logistical practices and simulations to evaluate improvements. The aim is to enhance the customer experience, ensuring road safety and balancing desired convenience with efficient traffic management.
