Mathematical literacy is a fundamental competency in the current context, where the ability to apply mathematical concepts becomes essential for academic and professional success. This article analyzes the perception and application of mathematical literacy among graduating students in Business Management Technology courses. The aim is to understand how academic training influences their problem-solving skills. The research, conducted through a questionnaire at a higher education institution in the interior of São Paulo State, reveals that, despite awareness of the importance of mathematical literacy, many students still exhibit significant gaps in their understanding. The results indicate a strong relationship between mathematical literacy and critical thinking, suggesting that a curriculum integrating these elements can better prepare students for the job market. It is concluded that higher education institutions should reevaluate their methodologies, prioritizing mathematical literacy in academic training to promote more effective and relevant education.
