Abstract

This work aims to identify the reason why companies close in 5 years. A survey on entrepreneurship and corporate mortality was undertaken to understand the issue. Through this research, we will see that this movement grows more and more, and with it, the number of entrepreneurs grows. In the survey conducted by GEM in 2014/2015, there is an increase of 34.5% over the last 10 years. After it, a research was carried out with the university and students of FATEC Zona Leste to try identifying the business size with the highest index of companies closed and the main reasons. With the research, we concluded that the main reason for the closure were: management problems, which is, poor management, and the lack of experience in the field, made many leave their informality to open a registry, by guidance of friends or relatives, but with no experience in this segment. Consequently, many went to seek help in SEBRAE, courses and even invested in a college to learn how to run their own business and open a new company.
