The accelerated economic growth and urban expansion in the main Brazilian cities at the beginning of the twentieth century significantly transformed the urban landscape, with the distancing of residential areas from urban centers and productive zones, the need for transport systems arises. At the beginning of 2020, the general situation of cities became complicated due to the emergence of the Covid-19 Pandemic, which changed not only people's lives and social dynamics, but also inflicted significant drops in urban transport as a whole. This study focuses on the quantitative analysis of the number of passengers transported by the urban public transport system by bus in the city of São Paulo, with daily data between January 2015 and December 2023. The objective is to analyze the daily demand, considering the pre- and post-pandemic periods, to verify the behavior of the data historically. The results show that demand, both daily and monthly, had already been falling before 2020, had a great reduction at the beginning of the Pandemic, in 2020, and recovery in the aftermath, but everything indicates that the demand for buses was inserted at a new level, falling from 10 million passengers per day to something around 6.5 million passengers per day.
